Not sure if I am posting this in the right forum and apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere.
Recently (November 30th) bought a Dell 9200 and came with instructions to ugrade to Windows Vista and included in my invoice as well. I am in Canada and had to wait till December 15th before I could go to
www.dellvistaupgrade.com to redeem my 'coupon'. However when I input my service tag number it says my system is not eligible. I know my system is eligible and when I call Dell customer support in Canada they can not help me but keep saying website is not working.
Are any other Canadian buyers experiencing the same ? Do any of the admins here know when the problem will be fixed ? it has been nearly two weeks now and looks like no one is looking into it. Also I would imagine if it was a webpage problem they would have put a notice saying that on the website somewhere ?
Just want to make sure if others are having the same problem or just me. If only me then I can escalate it with someone at Dell Canada.
Hi if anybody at dell reads this, I also can't get vistaupgrade website to accept my service tag number. I purchased my dell e520 on the 13th of december and got no upgrade coupon or anything to direct me to what I have to do to get the free upgrade. On my contract it definately says I should be getting one. After quite a bit of faffing about got to your upgrade website and it says my pc isn't elegible for the upgrade I know it is as this one of the main reasons that I bought the Pc. So if anyone there at dell reads these posts I would very much appreciate if you could just give me a tiny clue what to do next. Thank you in advance.
I ordered mine on 11-29-06 and still am not able to get the upgrade and can get no one to help...........any idea on how long it is taking now to be eligible??
Hi from another canuck. My upgrade was accepted December 15th. I used IE7 browser. However when I check the site for progress on the update I get a "pending" notice. Is this normal as well?
Looks like they updated thier site again yesterday (judging from the fact that it was down). Some of you might want to try your codes again. Mine still gives me the usual error message.
I'm sure you checked to make sure you're entering the right code the 2nd to 10th time you tried, but just a reminder that the site DOES NOT check whether the service tag you entered is valid. It only checks if something was actually entered into the box.
If any of you actually did get it to work, what Internet browser did you use? IE6/7? Firefox?
This is not being driven by Dell, but rather by Microsoft. This upgrade is unprecedented and I am sure everyone will get what's coming to them. You still have almost 5 weeks before you can the product so there is plenty of time.
