WIndows Media Player - internal application error

Media Player will not load. I have installed version 10.0 and removed it. I have run ie.inf "install". I have reloaded DLL listings from XP. I removed anti-virus programs.

What am I missing here?

Error is Media Player will not even start. It states application error, then pops up a memory read error.
