Hello all,

 

I recentely bought a Latitude C640 from an auction on eBay.

It came with Windows XP Pro pre-installed and also came with a Windows XP Pro w/SP2 cd.

I reformatted the hard drive to do a clean install of XP under my name but for the life of me I cannot install WinXP Pro no matter what I do, I even tried installing Win MCE but to no avail.

Even the cd that came with it will not install.

I have no problems installing Win XP Home Edition or Win2000 Pro but I'd rather work with Win XP Pro.

This laptop has a Win 2000 Pro serial sticker on the bottom and a Win XP logo sticker on the palmrest.

Also, with Win XP Home Edition after installation I get the error "stop: 0x0000006f", any clues?

This system also has the latest BIOS (A10)

 

Any help would be much appreciated.
