Hi,I see you’re looking for technical assistance. You could initiate a private/direct message with system Service Tag with us, and we’d be glad to assist you.
it does not appear 8940 has any side or top air vent, only front air intake and rear exhaust. should be fine laying it on side just making sure it is lying on the side of motherboard. if it has a heavy air cooler it is better to have motherboard in horizontal position and cooler on top of board to minimize mechanical stress on board. in this sense laying case down on side of motherboard is better than standing upright. air flow is about the same if you leave case on a desk whether standing or lying.
I have the same model and i want to turn it on it's side, I don't see why we can't use it on the side. It's not supposed to change anything as there is no cooling system other than a fan on the cpu. Can you tell me if you did it ? As your message is from a month ago. Thanks!
