Power Drops When Plugged In
I have an XPS 9720 running Windows 11 22H2
This is an issue I have noticed with multiple 9720's. I keep my device plugged in. I use a laptop cooler and obviously using just battery power would drain it too fast.
At random times (it seems to occur every couple of days, roughly 5-6 but no set schedule) I will notice the light on the power adapter is off - even though the device is still plugged into the surge suppressor. I'll open up the unit and see that the battery has drained - even though, again, it's still plugged in.
Nothing is wrong with the surge suppressor - 1. When this happened with the previous unit I replaced the surge suppressor (along with the device): made no difference 2. What "fixes" it is unplugging and replugging it back into the outlet - which obviously makes no sense: if the outlet was not giving power two seconds ago, why would it be giving power now?
Dell previously replaced the power adapter; made no difference. The BIOS Power setting was changed; no difference Then the repair depot replaced the motherboard; again, as I can see now, it has made no difference. The issue has re-occurred
So all potential problem points have been either repaired, are new or replaced: The device, power adapter, and surge suppressor. Yet the issue has re-occurred
Has anyone had this issue? Any ideas or fixes would be greatly appreciated

And I have not because that would defeat the main purpose - surge protection for my devices
Further I also don't think the surge protector is the issue - no other device experiences sudden, sustained loss of powerI do not know where you live to tell you whether electrical surges are common or not. In my experience, they are very rare. The fact that the charger goes that ever five to six days seems like an almost non issue to me. Is the charger always hot?

I have my desktop plugged into the same brand of surge protector, drawing from the same electrical source
It does not go out periodically - which leads me to believe surges are not the issue
I haven't checked the surface temperature of the adapter but it's brand new and when this occurred previously we changed adapters to no availYeah I'm honestly not sure what to suggest if you don't want to try connecting directly to the wall. Let me know if the power adapter is always warm/hot. If this only happens every 5/6 days it doesn't seem like much of a hassle to unplug/replug. Try resetting BIOS settings to default.

Have you tried connecting the adapter directly to the wall bypassing the surge protector? Yes I know you said you have replaced the surge protector, doesn't mean that a new one won't cause problems.
