17 R3, Bios update

Alienware shows that my bios has an update to 1.13.1, currently mine is 1.8.0. I am according to the Alienware update site, successfully downloading it. I do the restart as required, but if I check via msinfo it still shows the old bios. Can someone please tell this old man what I am doing wrong or how to update my bios?

I am using a Alienware 17 R3 with Windows 10.

    Welcome to the Dell Community

    First method:

Create a new folder on your desktop named “BIOS Update”

    Then download your BIOS update.

    Alienware 15 R2 and 17 R3 System BIOS:

    https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=5rhdj&oscode=wt64a&productcode=alienware-17-r3

Copy the update to that folder you just created.

Close all Windows and Apps you may have open.

Go to the folder and right click on the update file and “Run as Administrator”

    Second method:

Create a bootable USB drive using “Rufus”

    https://rufus.ie/

Under "Boot Selection" select "Free DOS"

    Then click "Start"

Copy the BIOS update to the bootable USB drive you just created..

Insert USB drive, power-on and start tapping the “ F12 “ key.

Boot from USB and run the BIOS update.

After reboot test and post any results.

    Best regards,

    U2

    Try downloading it here:

    Alienware 15 R2 and 17 R3 System BIOS | Driver Details | Dell US

    and flash it.

Let it fully complete the Update when it restarts and if a black screen appears dont touch the laptop.

Leave the laptop for 2 hours and if it stays black leave it longer.

If after a day it isn't finished flashing you need to hold the power button.

Quick Tip: If your laptop has voltage / charging issues, try shutting it down, unplugging power from laptop, hold power button down for 30 seconds to do a full reset!
