Have a quick question (or 2) for anyone familiar with the hardware set-up in this rig (Aurora).    I searched the forums extensively first but didn't find any answers.

 

I recently installed a GTX 580 to replace my original GTX 295.    Everything seems to be working fine (luckily both cards have same power set-up, 1 8-pin and 1-6 pin), but 2 issues with the original hardware set-up worry me a bit.  

 

1) there was a small braided wire with a tiny 2-pin connector from the motherboard to the original GTX 295.   There isn't any place to connect that on my new EVGA GTX 580, so I just left it disconnected.   Anyone know what that wire is for, and if there's any problem not using it?

 

2) the original card had a metal bracket mounted to the end that fit into a slot at the front of the case.   I assume the purpose was to help bear its weight and keep it from sagging.   However, that bracket doesn't fit on my new card (screw holes don't line up and are a different size).   So I installed the card without it for now.   Luckily the 580 seems considerably lighter than the 295 so I'm not overly worried about it.   Any opinions on whether I should be?
