A retired couple here.

One of our PCs at home is a Dell XPS 400 with 250 GB HD. The OS is XP.

The wife wanted to add a 500 GB HD so she ordered the Dell recommended Hitachi model# HDP725050GLA360.

I installed the new Hitachi model# HDP725050GLA360 inplace of the old HD and put XP on it with the installation CD. I installed the old HD and hooked up the SATA cable and the power cable. The new HD works but the old HD is not recognized….anywhere.

The new Hitachi model# HDP725050GLA360 Hard Drive comes with no installation instructions.
