which processor is best:

my old processor was a:
"dell dimension E520 pentium D915 dual core (2.8GHz,800MHz,FSB,2x2MB cache)

and this is the new one offered:
"Intel® Viiv™ Core™ 2 Duo E4300 Processor (1.8GHz,800MHz,2MB cache)

    The Core 2 Duo will be appreciably faster.

    If you do a little shopping you will find that the E6600 is less than $200 USD delivered to your door.
     
    I saw the Dell offer you posted but there is no price and am very skeptical of sales generated through Dell Forums participation. It seems slimy to me. but I'm just that way.

    the core 2 duos are much faster than the pentium chips of most any kind even extreme edition.

    i am not selling anything i am just wondering which one to get out of the 2..........huh:smileytongue:

    which is better out of the E6600 or the E4300 ?
    or would you need the clock speeds aswell.

    well just to say i couldnt wriggle my way into getting the E6600 and now have settled for the E4300:
    please take a look at my recent posts on the forum and check to see if Dell are sending me a better system than i currently have please reply peeps:

    I guess that if can't get the e6600 the other one should be fine.  Just one idea, check tomshardwear.com on the cpu comparison chart,  that will tell you how your pentium d stacks up to the processor you are supposed to get.
