9100 - Software recovery
Received my 9100 yesterday and did a clean install of XP. Reinstalled drivers and everything looks good, but I want to try and get back 1 or 2 pieces of software that came with the computer (Dell Media Experience and the Mcafee security center trial). I have already installed the SonicDVD software for my DVD burner, but the Media Experience did not seem to come back onto the PC with that. I cannot find these anywhere on the Utility disc. Heck, I can't find it anywhere. Anyone know where to look to try and get these back? Is there some Dell Application Bundle that I am totally missing?
Also, has anyone else cleaned and rebuilt their 9100 yet? Less junk = MUCH faster startup and MUCH faster when starting a new process. Kinda kicking myself for not checking to make sure where some of the software I wanted to keep was, but it is very nice not having some of the junk on there I never would have used in my life.
BTW, to anyone ordering a 9100, get the 7200RPM 60 gig drive. I did not, and man am I kicking myself. If there is one bottleneck in the system I ordered, it is the 40 gig slow hard disk that I got.
