Dell C840 Wont start up!
Hi,
I've tried to turn my Latitude C840 on this morning and it's decided not to work!
When I press the power button the three keyboard function lights (capslock etc)
come on together and also the power light. These stay on for about 1 or 2 seconds then
it powers off.
There are no beeps and nothing on the screen.
Can anyone tell me what this means, or shed any light on this problem and
any possible fixes?
Cheers

- The battery is fine and I have tried to power it up from the mains (both with and without the battery in).
Strangly it had decided to work this lunchtime when I though I'd give it one last go before pulling my hair out!
I am still interested to find out what the error code lights mean if anyone can shed any light on this?

Slight update.
The laptop is now working again, after I left it alone for about half an hour. I got the usual Win *beep* about pc recovering from serious error. And since I actually bothered submitting the error I got a nice reply
Error Caused by a Device Driver
Thank you for submitting an error report. Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with specific information about how to resolve this problem at this time. The information that you and other users submit will be used to investigate this problem.
Analysis
A device driver installed on your system caused the problem, but we cannot determine the precise cause
which is about as close to useless as you can get if you ask me. I've just upgraded to Win XP sp2 if that helps anyone make sense of this.

Hi. I've had exactly the same problem as you. The fact that yours has decided to work later on has kept me from smashing the laptop with a large hammer. But I can only hope that mine will decide to work later so if anyone has any clues whatsoever as to the likely cause of this it would be much appreciated.
Btw mine crashed while in use, got a glimpse of a bsod with irq conflict then it powered down and I haven't been able to power up since.
