Dell Latitude D830 Microphone Jack Problem

Hi,

I'm using a Latitude D830, and I've been having problems with the microphone jack. The internal microphone works just fine, so I have a feeling that it's not my drivers, which are up to date (I believe). But when I plug in the microphone of a headset, it doesn't detect it, doesn't pop up any menu option asking if I want to use it, and pretty much seems to ignore it's very existence. I'm running windows 7, so I don't know if that's causing problems, but, if I remember correctly, it was doing this before I switched from XP. I noticed on one of the other forums that someone mentioned a "sense pin" problem with the D830 headphone jack. While my headphones are working just fine, could this contribute to the problem with my external microphone? If anyone has a fix, I'd really appreciate any help.
