I can't install Java on my E1705
I am having a problem getting Java to install on my laptop. It's telling me there is a problem unzipping core files? I tried to use the workaround that java gives but none of that worked for me. Can someone please tell me what i need to do. there is no java on my computer!
Thanks!

It still doesn't work. Do you think there is a version that could be hidden somewhere?? I'm getting the message that says error 25099: unzipping core files failed. Any other suggestions? I'm not real computer savvy, so i need good instructions if it's a lengthly process!!!!!
The E1705's that shipped with Vista,on the Utility CD that comes with it there is a install for Java. Not sure what your OS is,if it is XP you can insert the CD and see if it has the same install. It is listed as Power settings on the Vista systems Dell Utility CD's.

I attempeted that. However i am unable to find the area that allows me to find the install. It only wants me to do a full system restore? Any suggestions?
When you insert the CD,cancel the .EXE install windows asks for.Now open "My Computer" and double click on the E: drive(it will show as E: Dell Utility) now this will open the disk utility on the actual disk itself. On the top left side of the screen you will see a back button, click it.This will take you to all drivers listed on the disk. Now you can install the Java based from here. That is IF XP has this option,as i said Vista does i am not sure about the XP systems.

Go into the control panel and make sure there are no versions installed. If there are, remove them and reboot (under add/remove).
Then go to www.java.com and download the OFFLINE (NOT THE ONLINE) installer for your operating system and install it:
