Latitude D630 USB Device Not Recognized
I have a Lat D630. Windows XP SP3, all latest updates and drivers, near as I can tell. I have a constant USB Device Not Recognized error box that keeps coming up in the notification area. Dell replaced the motherboard, than I reinstalled XP, using the Dell DVD sets. The problem still remains. This problem does not follow the hard drive if I put it into another D630. All the USB ports function fine. I plugged a USB thumbdrive into them and it installed the drivers and worked just fine. Even with the USB drive in, the Device not Recognized error still pops up. When this error is up and I try to Safely Remove Devices, the only 2 devices listed is the removable DVD drive and the Smart Card Reader. I have taken out the DVD drive and disabled the Smart Card Reader in Device Manager, but the error still remains, on reboot.
I was chatting with a Dell rep for 30 mins and had him stumped too. Ive got an email out to him, but he's on vacation. Thought Id give the forums a shot, see what the collective comes up with.
Any help appreciated.
thanks
