Problems with powering a C610
I´m in Spain and trying to recharge my C610 with a power cord that shows a green light when I plug the outlet into the wall, but this goes off when I plug the other end into the computer. The computer worked fine on battery power even after this problem appeared. I tried removing the batteries. No luck. I am guessing the problem lies within the computer, perhaps a loose or short circuited connection within the laptop. The plug in the back appears to be a little loose and I´ve had a slightly loose screen for a while.
Any suggestions? The computer is about dead and I need it!

- If MBD means motherboard, I hope that is not the case. The computer operates fine, or did, with the remaining power it had. So, it would not do that if the mother board was fried, and I right? The problem is recharging the computer. Dell advises that I try a charger known to work. But I am traveling in Europe and getting one is going to be a problem. I will try the numbers they give for spain. Or I will go to an electrical repair store and see if I can get a transformer with the same specifications and have them splice the connecting wire onto it.I think using a transformer in Europe with an adaptor led to the problem. I think the transformer got fried. We shall see.I welcome any advice about getting a new charger in Europe.

Hi,
It could be the adapter, but I would suspect the motherboard. Despite where you are, parts from the US dont take long to arive. You can try Ebay for an adapter, or a new non-genuine one.

Hi,
You will need a MBD most likely. They are also used in the Inspiron 4100, if you get one you can flash the Bios over.
