S2340L, HDMI not working

Good day,

I recently started having this same issue, I’ve followed everything per this thread and still cannot get the screen to work with HDMI. This is the first time since I got the monitor that this is happening and I am unsure how to proceed?

Please help.

    Started your own thread.

    We need more data before we can troubleshoot;

    * Was this monitor purchased directly from Dell as new?
    * If not, from whom did you purchase this Dell monitor?
    * When was the purchase made?
    * What is the non-private 20 digit S/N?
    * What is the A0x revision?

    * What operating system?
    * What specific PC model?
    - If a Desktop PC, what video card? What video out ports are on the video card?
    - If a Laptop PC, what video out ports are on the Laptop?
    * Show in detail how the monitor is connected to the PC or added video card using all ports and cabling

    Hi Chris M,

    To answer your questions:

    * Was this monitor purchased directly from Dell as new? No

    * If not, from whom did you purchase this Dell monitor

    The monitor or was purchased from an authorized Dell dealer/reseller in South Africa, Incredible Connection.

    * When was the purchase made?

    January 15, 2016

    * What is the non-private 20 digit S/N?

    CN05FYJ5641805551757

    * What is the A0x revision?

    I'm unsure what this is?

    * What operating system?

    MacOS

    * What specific PC model?

    I am using the monitor on a MacBook Pro

    - If a Desktop PC, what video card? What video out ports are on the video card?

    N/A

    - If a Laptop PC, what video out ports are on the Laptop?

    Mini-Display Port for HDMI/VGA

    * Show in detail how the monitor is connected to the PC or added video card using all ports and cabling

    Currently, the HDMI option still does not work per my earlier mention, it goes straight to Power Saving mode despite all your suggestions in the reference post, VGA works without issue.

    This out of warranty S2340L built on May 5, 2015 was never tested on Apple. I am confused by this line, "Mini-Display Port for HDMI/VGA". Are you saying that the MacBook Pro has all three video out ports, mDP/HDMI/VGA? Or are you using some form of mDP to HDMI converter to HDMI to HDMI cable to HDMI in port in on the S2340L?

    Hi, the port is for adaptors, I have one for VGA and one for HDMI, which then connects to the cable and then the monitor. It worked fine since 2016 and then late last year when I made contact, the HDMI connection was lost out of the blue.

    Hello, I am following up as to whether there is a solution that that may help me regain access to the HDMI function of my monitor?

    For this 4 year old out of warranty monitor, you should post the MacBook Pro connecting issue on the Apple Forum.
