Fax

I have Dell Dimension 8400. I know this computer can fax it but I don't know if this modem can receive a fax. I connected a phone line and tested faxing out my document. I never tried receiving fax. Please tell me how to set up the modem to receive a fax.
thanks for your help.

    go2005,

If your system can send a fax, it can receive a fax.  Configure the fax software to answer in 2 or 3 rings.  What fax software are you using?

I don't think I have any fax program. But here is what I did to test the faxing a document.

    1. I opened a file using MS word program
    2. I selected "File" and then "sent to" then "recipiant"
    3. Now Word program is developing a cover sheet then I attached a file
    4. I click "send"

This is all I did in order to faxing a file.

DO I NEED A FAX program to fax and receive using a modem.

Dell 8400 unit that I bought come with a modem.

    Thanks,

    go2005,

Yes, you need a fax program to send and receive faxes.  Windows XP has one built in.  Click Start-> Control Panel->Printers and other hardware->Printers and Faxes.  Click on the fax icon and you can configure the fax software that came with Windows.  You can configure it to receive faxes.
