Precision T7910 liquid cooling upgrade?
Hello! I have a T7910 workstation that is currently air cooled. I found someone who sells the liquid CPU coolers that was an option, Dell P/N: 0TMJK2, and was considering the upgrade to improve temperatures for when I'm doing video rendering workloads. I've seen this video:
https://www.dell.com/learn/us/en/04/videos~en/documents~esupport-r7910-liquid-cooling-en-v1.aspx
And the upgrade looks easy enough to do. However, I have 2 questions:
1) In the video above and mentions elsewhere online, it seems Dell does not apply any thermal paste between the copper plate of the liquid coolers and the IHS of the CPU, is that correct? Or, just an oversight when the video was made? I would think thermal paste would be a good idea here...
2) As seen also in the video above, it looks like a perforated side panel is needed to allow the liquid coolers to blow the exhaust of the radiators out the side. Since my T7910 did not originally have liquid coolers, the side panel does not have the ventilation holes. I suppose I can drill the panel, but is there some place to buy the original Dell side panel with the ventilation for the liquid coolers?
TIA for any help...

In answer to your first question, I suspect that cooler without thermal paste was an oversight and the cooler was used previously. So the thermal paste had been cleaned off. As you can see from the Ebay listing, the thermal paste is preapplied from the manufacturer.

Also though they are out of stock at the present. You could also call Dell parts and inquire about the panel.
