I just got a Dell 942 printer, and installed the software from the disk provided, but now my computer (an original Dell XPS desktop) won't boot with the printer connected (hangs at [USBd]), even if the 942 is powered off. I have to disconnect the USB cable from the printer entirely to boot my machine, then plug it in later. Any idea how to fix this?

1. Shut down the PC.
2. Power the PC back on, and press 'F2' to enter the system setup when the Dell splash screen appears.
3. You should now be in the BIOS system setup configuration menu.
4. Select 'Integrated Devices' and press 'enter'.
5. Select 'USB Emulation' and press 'enter'.
6. This is probably defaulted to 'On', so using the left and right arrows select the 'No Boot' option and press 'enter'.
7. Press 'escape' you will now be prompted to 'Save Changes and Exit?'. Press enter on this selection, you do wish to save changes.
Hopefully this should clear up your problem. Let us know how it works out!
