Hi,

Last week our Dell 1815dn printer started making grinding noises, and jamming. After a call to Dell tech support they decided to send us a replacement. We were hoping to get another 1815dn, as it's a great laser/fax printer, that worked perfectly for what we used it for!

However, the printer we received is a Dell 2335dn, as apparently the 1815dn is out of stock/discontinued. After a number of issues with receiving this printer (the 1815dn toner doesn't fit, so we had to get a replacement sent, we had a 250 sheet feed tray for the 1815dn which doesn't work on the 2335dn, so we've had to get a replcement sent, which tech support screwed up by sending just a paper draw, not the entire feed tray), we've finally started to use it for sending/receiving faxes. However, it's much much slower to use than the 1815dn. The way we use the 1815dn, was if you had 20 people to fax, you could insert the first fax, enter the fax number, the printer would scan the page, then while the printer was connecting and sending the fax, you could scan the second fax, enter the phone number, which would scan, and queue the fax for sending, and you could then scan the third fax, enter the number, scan it etc. By the time the first fax had completed sending, you could have scaned, and queued 10 additional faxes.

However with this new 2335dn, you have to insert the fax, enter the phone number, scan the document, then wait for the scan to complete, the fax to connect, then the fax to complete totally, before you can insert the next document for faxing. This makes it incredibly slow, especially if you have 20 faxes to send.

Additionally, the 1815dn would let you scan and queue a fax for sending, while it was receiving an incoming fax, but the 2335dn doesn't let you do this, you have to wait for it to receive and print an incoming fax, before you can scan, and queue an outgoing fax.

Is there anyway to speed up the faxing process on the 2335dn? At the moment the 1815dn appears to be a far superior machine! And we're not too happy about it being replaced with a much slower model!

Any help, or recommendations would be much appreciated!
