Dell Inspiron 560 - Printer Driver was not installed Error Code 0x00000002
Hi,
I am using a Dell Inspiron 560 with a Kodak ESP-3 printer. Everything was working fine. Then, the printer stopped working from one day to the next. I get an error message "Printer Driver was not Installed. Operation could not be completed. Error Code 0x00000002". I called Kodak Customer Service. They threw everything at it but the kitchen sink. After 3 hours, they gave up and suggested that I contact Dell. The scanner works and the copier works, just not the printer. I've run the Kodak "clean-up" program & also installed the latest drivers from Kodak. (THEY sent them to me). I've taken the printer and attached it to two different computers & it loads/works perfectly with them...just not with the Inspiron 560. I've also taken two printers from other computers and tried them with the Inspiron 560 and they both loaded and worked perfectly as well. (an HP 5510 and an HP 2727). I've tried loading it after disabling McAfee...no luck either. I've even logged on with the Administrator account and tried everything all over again - no luck.
I've been a lifelong Dell user, but my frustration is running high right now. Going back to a restore point is problematic.
I was using McAfee, but that was the 1st thing I uninstalled. No virus protection at all at this point. I will re-install McAffee when I get this printer problem licked. The following is my system info from the "systeminfo" run:

If this is a wireless printer, I recommend using these Recommended Wireless Router Settings , I use channel 11. I would make a new SSID to make connecting easier.
Install the drivers. If Kodak has Vista 64-bit drivers, download and install them in the Vista Compatibility mode you should get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on)
If the printer is wireless, if you changed anything in the wireless router, then do the setup like it's a new installation. Make sure the printer is connected to the network, before proceeding.
Since you have uninstalled McAfee, I don't have to give you the instructions to get past it.

NOT WIRELESS

DONE

________
Rats...same exact error!
same failure messages as before. Do I need a priest or some holy water??
other than the printer listed in Other Devices & with no driver (as before), Device Manager is clean & nothing strange.
Windows7 is just as it came from the Dell assembly line - no re-installs or upgrades.
Nothing changed. What's the next step? If you're out of ideas, does Dell have some" Wizards" in their support department that you know that you can hook me up with or give me a contact method?
Or (I dread saying this) should I try to dive into the maze at Microsoft support?
Anything...but I'm not giving up! I will not let this whip me.
Try posting at Microsoft Answers-Hardware and maybe someone there can figure this out. I'm thinking it's something with Kodak's drivers. Do they have newer drivers online?
Please make sure to install virus protection. I use FREE Avast Home Edition Register, it's FREE. Good for 1 year. When the year is up, register again. It's and endless cycle, unless you decide to purchase it.
