After generally good performance, now a problem: When I go to Turn Off Computer (either Turn Off or Restart) and click, I get a message: End Program - Outlook.exe which indicates I guess that it's shutting down Outlook 2002 (even though I'm out of it as a program & disconnected from Internet). After this short "shutdown" effort, the message box indicates The Program is Not Responding (and then two choices) To Return to Windows to check program status, click Cancel; If you chose to end program immediately you will lose data. When I click on End Now, it restarts the shutting down End Program - Outlook.exe, instead of shutting down the computer. Only after repeated clicks on End Now, will Windows XP & the computer shut down. Clearly, something in Outlook 2002 is hanging the system.
Any advice, please?

I would look at two items: Does Messenger start automatically with Outlook? If so, disable this feature. Also, if you're using any synching program for a handheld device, this may also cause the hang.
Unfortunately, neither may be a factor. I'm not signed in to Messenger & do not have any hand held device.
Only thing new to report is that I remember "importing" calendar info into the system a day or so ago. Also, I notice that the computer shuts down when I click on End Now a second time, after the first effort to end now isn't successful.
Thanks to all for advice. Simpliest solution: by restoring system to 48 hours ago, problem went away. Subsequently, I have reason to believe that downloading of Aol Instant Messenger upgrade just didn't "fit" for my system. Twice I installed & shut down problem appeared; thrice removed & shut down operates smoothly.
I cannot believe they do not support their software after a mere 30 days. .. & What's worse, when you were busy spending all your hard earned money on Dell products, they didn't once tell you that they were not going to support you. They allowed you (the ignorant customer) to assume that your warranty or even extended warranty was all that you needed. Never said word one about your lack of software support.
