i have a R720XD with the above issue, i have cleared logs, and on the idrac gui there are no errors and health status on the server leds on the front are blue and no amber warning lights on at all. just wondered what errors could cause this as the server isn't detecting an error. the led will flash blue when initializing the idrac at server boot but then turns solid amber.
have updated bios, idrac and lifecycle controller to latest fw - issue persists.
If there is an amber light on the system status then there should be a message in the hardware or alert log of the iDRAC/LCC. You can also install OpenManage Server Administrator to check for issues. There may also be drive status lights on the system. If one of the drives is predictive failure or some other degraded state it may put an amber light on the drive carrier. That may not be reflected in the logs if you have cleared them, but the amber light will stay on.
You can find the download for OMSA and system manual on the system support page. The status lights should be listed in the manual.
i have checked in OMSA no errors, there are no hard drives in it, have cleared controller to erase any past configs and yet amber light at the rear remains.
system status on the front is blue which is why im confused as to why the rear light would be amber
