When I use Office apps, if I click on "open" it brings up the dialog box but hangs when I try to browse for a file. The other is that it does the same thing when I try to "save as." I can open and work on files by double-clicking on the file icon in windows explorer, and I can save with control-S.

When I force the application to close and get the message about sending the error report to microsoft, the error signature is:

I'm running Windows XP on an Inspiron 700m. I have word, excel and outlook installed via Office Basic Edition 2003, and powerpoint, access, frontpage via Office Pro 2003. I've tried scanning my machine with Symantec Anti-Virus Corporate 2003 and SpyBot. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Office and installed all Office updates on the Microsoft site. I've also deactivated the alternative language/text options. I haven't installed anything new recently and it had been working fine for at least a month since I installed the Office pro applications. Please tell me there's something else I can try! I tried to paste the HiJackThis log below but it's > 20,000 characters so I can't post it. Thanks for any help!
