We're planning to deploy SRM 4.1 with ESX 4.1 and Clariion CX3-10. One thing that is not clear to me is installation procedure for Solutions Enabler.
I understand that SE need to be installed on SRM server, but we're planning that SRM will be deployed as Virtual Machine. Does SE require direct fibre chanell access to Clariion or could we configure out-of-band management (over network)?
There is a demo on VMware site where SE is installed in client/server mode, where server component is located on ESX server. I would prefer to avoid any third party apps in ESX console if possible.
For managing CLARiiON arrays (CX3, CX4, etc.), Solutions Enabler does NOT need direct FC access to the array. The CLARiiON can be managed out-of-band over the network.
Having said that, I can't speak to what the SRA supports with respect to SE client\server connections. Hopefully, someone with more knowledge of the SRA can provide more details.
