VNX 5300 Pool Raid

Hello Community,

i have a customer running a VNX 5300 since 2 Years.

The VNX is configured with a pool of 15 SAS Drives and a RAID 4+1 configuration.

Can i change the RAID Level from the Pool in Online State or must i take a backup, new Configuration and restore the data.

The RAID level of a pool tier is fixed for the life of the pool. You can add a new tier to a pool that has a different RAID type on the fly (starting with VNX Block OE v32), but you cannot change the RAID type of a tier in a pool once it has been created. Adding a new tier requires a different drive type (EFD, SAS, NL-SAS) from the existing drives in a pool.
