My computer won't open any program, even turn off or restart. Finally, I inserted drivers and utilities cd and one by one, the programs I cliked on opened and closed and then it seemed to have turned off. I tried rebooting but the screen remained black. When the pointer came on, that's when I realized my computer is powered on. It won't power off and won't do anything.
I finally found the Windows XP cd and so I was able to reboot. It looks fine. Is there any step I should do to make sure whatever problems it had are fixed?
The power won't turn off, so I inserted the cd on the drive, then unplugged and plugged the cord back.
I have not turned it off. I am scanning for corrupted files. I don't know if it's really fixed, but so far, I am able to open programs, even access internet while my pc is running from the cd.
It is not fixed. I don't know why it is working with the XP CD in the drive, but you cannot run XP from that CD. How are you scanning for corrupted files? What command(s) did you enter to do this?

I don`t understand what you mean by
"I finally found the Windows XP cd and so I was able to reboot."
How do you reboot from the CD? What exactly did you do to fix it?
