Screensaver files must have an extension of ".bmp". I think all you have to do is move the file into the "Windows" folder. I see a lot of others there.

Here are the detailed instructions you requested.

Find the screen saver file on your hard disk. As volcano11 mentioned, it will have the extension .scr. Right-click on the file name and select "Copy" from the context menu that appears. Now navigate to the sytem32 folder (at C:\Windows\system32). Right-click on the system32 folder and choose "Paste" from the context menu.

Open display properties (Start|Control Panel|Display) and on the Screen Saver tab make sure the name of the screen saver appears in the drop-down menu. If it does, you can return to the original location from which you copied the *.scr file and delete that file.

You could have avoided the last step by selecting "Cut" rather than "Copy" at the first step, but if you are not comfortable with moving files in Windows Explorer the method recommended is safer, as the original file remains until you are sure that the new file will work properly.

Screen saver files have an .scr extension and are normally stored in the C:\Windows\System32 folder.
