I am currently running on Windows ME. There is a program PCHEALTH that runs every 10 minutes from the task scheduler. I have tried to remove the task or change the schedule interval to once every month. It resets itself back at start up time. The biggest problem I have with this application is when it runs (every 10 minutes), it starts several popup screens. Anything from spyware and hot bar download sites to porno web sites. I have two young boys using the PC and the way this application is running is not acceptable. Is there someway I can disable this. I can't stop the scheduler completely because I have Norton anti virus running as scheduled.
The problem isn't with PC Health, which is a legitimate Windows ME component, and which should not result in popups, etc. You have inadvertently installed some form of junkware on the system that's causing this. You need to install and run either Lavasoft AdAware (
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ ) or Spybot Search and Destroy (
http://www.safer-networking.org/ ) (or both) and let them remove all the junk. I'd try AdAware first, and see if that takes care of things.
The PCHEALTH has been running since I bought the PC two years ago. I thought that something may have piggybacked itself to it. I have not been able to put my finger on it. Thanks for your response. I will try your suggestion this weekend.
