I don't know about Dell, but I have several other brands without the security feature. I am sure you can install that type of software on any jump drive if you use it.

Do you mean that I could still install the security software onto the memory key even though it did not come with the purchase?

I think you can download the software off of Lexar website, but not sure. I have copied from Lexar jump drive onto other jump drives and it work pretty good.
