SUWIN fault
In trying to re-load Windows ME following a freeze-up, 65% loads then I get 'SUWIN general protection fault inmodule VERX-DLL at 00002:24AE' on my Dell Dimension XPS 1500.
Is it a virus? Hardware problem? I stuck!

Thanks newbee. I visited google, and my problem would seem to be universal. I've taken advice to return to my Win98 until I can solve the prob.

Hi there,
If you are trying to install over the top of WinMe(dirty install) instead of a clean install, check out google.com to the right of Web click "groups" and do a search for verx.dll
From what I read, it has to do with having Winmedia9 and IE6 on your updated system and the WinMe cd installs Winmedia 7 and ie5.
