win32 help! problem with sound

Hey I have a Dell Dimension 9150. I got some software probs and my pc reboted
with a Win32 error . A reboot after that and pc started up bu now i had no
sound. I un-installed the sounddriver + device in device manager, re-installed
but still no sound. How can i get this fixed without reinstalling Windows ?? Can
i get hold of the win32 files from another similar Dell Dimension ?. Please help
!! Did a reinstall a couple months ago and I dont want to do it again. -_-

PS: Last post got deleted, I saw I had an response, but couldnt see it because they removed the thread since I wrote something inapporpraite. Thanks!

    HaraldK,

Yep, the moderator/liason will delete a post for "something inappropriate".

If you have reinstalled the sound card driver and have no sound, it's probably your speaker configuration.  Click on Start|Control Panel|Sounds and Audio Devices.  Under Speaker Settings, click the Advanced button.  Under Speaker Setup select the type of speakers you are using.  Some digital sound card installations default to Desktop Speakers.  If you have digital speakers you need to select Surround Sound Speakers, 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers or 7.1 Surround Sound Speakers.  Apply the change.  Test the change by clicking on the speaker on your taskbar and changing the volume.  You should get a ding or thunk or whatever if you've selected the right speaker setup.

Let us know if this fixes your problem.
