Do a search on Google.  There are a million hits dealing with this.  Look through and see if you can find one that applies to you.  See here.

Probably it means to reinstall the SW that came with the DVD.

STEP ONE - Ensure that only one copy of ASPI is on your computer system

Ensure that only one copy of ASPI is on your computer system and that it is located under the correct Windows directory. Please use the following steps to do this.

Click Start, Find, then Files or Folders.

Click the down-arrow next to the Look in drop-down box and click the My Computer icon.

Next to Named, type Wnaspi32.dll

Only one copy of the WNASPI32.DLL file should be located on your computer under the WINDOWS\SYSTEM or WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 directory.

Note: If you have multiple operating systems, you will also have multiple WNASPI32.DLL files. Ensure that all of the WNASPI32.DLL files are located in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM or WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 directory on your computer.

Delete any WNASPI32.DLL files that are not in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM or WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 directory.

Continue with the next step.

STEP TWO - Update your ASPI files

Thanx! I did the search and it wasn't anywhere on my computer. So I ended up having to purchase it from a site, but I did go ahead and do the update you mentioned. Thank you very much for giving such detailed instructions. I don't know much about puters, so all the help I can get is appreciated.

While you're backing that file up to a floppy I suggest you bach these uo too.

ntldr, ntdetect.com, boot.ini, and system

Do a Search on your machine for these and Send them to your floppy drive.

 

 

 

Shouldn't most of these be on my disks that came with the puter????? And no, I didn't pay much for it. Don't think I should have had to pay anything, but that's another issue! *sigh*

These are files that are required when you can't boot up your computer; it's much handier to have them on 2-3 floppies than try to extract them from a non-working system. I'm not sure if that will even be possible. A word to the wise is sufficient. The file SYSTEM is located in C:\windows\system32\config.
