Yes, the problem is that the server needs during the installation de service pack 4, so in that case you need to integrate or to get a copy of the w2k with the SP4 included in the INSTALLATION CD.

So, if you install Windows 2003 is gonna work but if are installing w2k you will need in the same cd the service pack 4.

Thanks.

Thank you for the response.

What is involved in taking the existing Advanced Server CD and then adding SP4 to it?

How do I do this?

Thank you.

I had exactly the same question. Turns out Microsoft calls this "slipstreaming". It involves copying a stock Windows 2000 installation CD to a folder on a working system. In another folder, you copy a "network" version of the service pack, then (at the command line) run the service pack with the /UPDATE switch. This overwrites the files in the Windows folder with the updated versions from the service pack. Then you create a bootable CD from this updated Windows 2000 folder.

And that's the real trick--creating the bootable CD. Try as I might, I couldn't get good solid info on how to use my CD mastering software (Roxio) to make the image bootable. Sure, lots of information out there... but much of it was wrong.

So I kept looking, and found a nifty utility program on the MSFN.ORG website called "nLite" (try a Google search for "Windows 2000 slipstream bootable CD nLite"--MSFN.ORG will probably be the first site you'll see.  What the application does is automate the whole process--and produces a bootable CD ISO image. With that image, burning to a CD was no problem--and it booted up just fine. nLite has two very important features: it lets you add in not just the service pack, but also all the post-service pack 4 hotfixes, drivers, and other applications you want (assuming they'll fit on the CD). The second feature--it's free.

Hope that helps!!!
