Cleaning light on means that your tape drive's heads are either dirty, or it misreads the heads as dirty. Tapes ejecting mean that you tape drive doesn't think it can use the tapes; either they are the incorrect tapes, the tapes are too old, the tape drive heads are too dirty, or the tape drive is misreading the tapes. Here's your best plan of attack to knock this one out. 1. Ensure that you firmware is up to date. This will take out any false read errors. You can download your firmware here: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R130967&SystemID=PWV_DSK_100T_DAT72&servicetag=&os=WNET&osl=en&deviceid=6152&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=3&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=5&libid=37&fileid=174319 I cannot stress this step enough. Tape drive firmware is critical! 2. Run a NEW cleaning tape through your tape drive 3-5 times. (remember, DAT72 cleaning tapes are rated for 20 cleanings, after that they don't help your tape drive). 3. Try inserting a NEW tape into your tape drive. See if it accepts it. If so, your media set may be getting old. If the above do not work, consider replacing your tape drive. If it is still under contract, a call to tech support should get it replaced for you. If not under contract, tech support can refer you to spare parts to purchase a replacement. I hope that helps. -Idaho Joe
