free partition manager?

I have an 8400 that I installed a 250 gig hard drive on, I cloned the original 80 gig drive because I wanted to keep the restore and utilitie partitions, the problem is that I now have a 250 gig hard drive that is seen as an 80 gig hard drive with the remainder of the hard drive as a partition, how can I join the remainder to the primary partition?

You can try GParted, it's free.

You did not say what was used to clone the drive, but you should of just restored the image to the new hard drive and let the program default to fill the main partition to max size. Your image would of had both partition in it.

Most image software would resize the main partition to max disk size for you. If you used ghost you could manually edit the partition size before writing the image to disk and i am sure most other programs can do the same thing.

If you are set on using a partition manager then you should think about what you need to do. Not sure you can join two partitions, but you could delete the extra partition and then resize the main partition. The only problem i see is that to resize a main OS installed partition, you need to boot to some other disk like a CD and not to the OS installed on the partition that you want to resize. If you have a bartPE boot disk that should get you running a windows OS and then you can resize the hard drive partition.
