Inspiron 700m - Internal Keypad Mouse Options

I am trying to permanantly disable the internal mouse on the keypad. Normally, I would just go to the Control Panel > Mouse > Disable mouse. However, for some reason, every time I now reboot, it automatically enables itself and every time I have to shut it off by going to the Control Panel. Anyone know how I can shut it off so it does not do this each time I reboot? Thanks for your help.

Are you talking about disabling the touchpad when an external mouse is attached?  I am aware of no option to just disable the touchpad without an external mouse attached.  If you are actually talking about disabling the touchpad when an external mouse is detected, pull up the touchpad properties using the icon in the taskbar notification area, go to "device select" and put a check in "disable touchpad when external USB mouse is attached".

Hey, thanks for the input. Yea I am talking about disabling the touchpad when an external mouse is attached. Can you tell me how I get to that part? I cant find it...

I usually go to Mouse under control panel > Device Settings > Click Synaptics touchpad option > Click Disable

But it doesnt do it permanantly for some reason, when it usually did...

Do you have the latest Dell touchpad driver?  My laptop has the dell touchpad driver and I can get to this using the option screens provided by this driver.  Perhaps the native synaptics driver does not have this capability.

How would I be able to find that out?

Go to the dell support site (support.dell.com or click on support in the top right of this screen), put in your laptop model and see what drivers are available for download.  Download and install the latest touchpad driver available and see if that gives you the option you are looking for.

Got it. Thanks so much for your help. I d-loaded the driver and now there are more options to disable it. I just restarted and it doesn't come on. Thanks a lot.
