Creative Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced MB Issue

Ok this problem is a bit different than the other problems that people have with the creative sound blaster advanced MB.

My problem is that I have just reformated my computer, this being about the 6th time so far. I have already dealt with creative before on the activation code and such so theres no problem there. But, after reformatting my computer and trying to install my drivers for my sound blaster MB it says that there is no such device on my computer and installation will shut down.

I don't understand how I could have this on my computer about 2 hours ago before the reformat and all the sudden it tells me that there is no such device and that I can't install the drivers.

I have tried to intall from the CD that I received with my computer when I first purchased it as well as going onto the Dell.com website putting in my service code and downloading the drivers from online.

Neither work and it makes no sense to me. I am a decently tech savvy guy, so I don't believe that it is my ignorance that is causing this.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention my computer and OS.

Just an update: Dell had me reinstall the operating system and they gave me the order to install the drivers and then to install sound blaster audigy. It still did not instal stating it could not find any audio drivers. Dell then took over control of the laptop trying to get it to install. They are now going to replace my laptop.

I didn't know that sigmatel was bought out.  Who bought them and will they continue support?  I was able to get the Audigy installed on Win7, but it would not load (or install) the audio center where all the real audio upgrades are available.  I only get the additional software, which is somewhat unnecessary since other applications sort your media, play your media, etc.   I just get the message that their are no devices that support audio center, which is ridiculous as the laptop has these devices or it would not work in Vista.  I've emailed Creative but don't really expect anything other than "we do not support Win7" or "contact Dell."

It appeared to me that all the drivers posted on Creative were for sound cards.  I couldn't find anything that said Creative Audigy Advanced Software Edition.  Which driver would work?  Also, when do you install the Dell Utility Notebook System software?  Before or after the chipset?  Before or after the Sigmatel Audio drivers?  Thanks.  I'l trying to get this working in Win7 (32 bit) and having pro blems.

You install the notebook system software before installing any drivers. Dell has an order list for installing these.

Dell was never able to get this software working on 64 bit vista. They ended up sending me a new laptop with 32 bit and it works fine.

I have only tried windows 7 on my virtual machine and I am unable to get the sound to work at all. I'm not about to put it on my machine untill I am sure Dell is able and willing to support it.

Where do you get the "onboard sound drivers?

From the XPS M1730 driver downloads page if that is your model. Look in the Audio category to find the Sigmatel driver but be sure to first select your operating system in the dropdown box..

I read very well. If you would have read what I stated is that Dell tech support tried to install the  software from the CD that came with the laptop. They also downloaded the software from Creative's site. Each time the software fails to install stating that it can not found any drivers. I figure since I can play mp3's and device manager shows no problems with any of the drivers, I must have audio drivers installed. Dell Tech Support after working for over a total of 8 hours came to the conclusion that Audigy Advanced MB does not work with Vista 64 bit. They are on people who tell me I deserve a refund for the software. I figure I am owed a refund or Dell should make the software work. They are unwilling or unable to do either.

Thanks for your effort! It's helpful to me.
