DELL INSPIRON 1720 won't boot when it does has error 2000-0123 memory integrity test failure

Hi

I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 with Windows Vista out of warranty. It has1GB or ram. It will not boot up though the fan is coming on and the DVD drive light and the power light and the A light next to the power button is coming on and flashing. Last time I powered it up it was freezing and then I ran the diagnostic boot and it reported error 0123 and said it had failed the memory integrity test. Now I cannot even get it to boot. The screen remains blank and it will not even go into the BIOS or the diadgnostic boot anymore.

What could I possbly do. Dell Chat is not responding at all and I have checked the ram it is properly attached to the motherboard.

Please help. Thank you.

Hello,

The diagnostics test is telling you that the memory is bad.

I suggest that you buy and install new memory that is sold for your specific model number. You can read why Dell computers are very picky with memory, and what to do on the memory pages of my web site.
