No driver for my multimedia audio controller!
I moved my computer yesterday and now I have no sound! Upon opening Device Manager, I see that my multimedia controller has a yellow exclamation point, but the right driver can't be found for it! D: My computer is a Dimension 2400 and I'm running XP, Service Pack 3. The manufacturer for my soundcard is "UNKNOWN," since I'd rather not crack my case open to find out. I went through an innumerable amount of posts on this comm from people with similar problems, but their solutions haven't worked for me. Can anyone help?
Thanks SO MUCH!

The mulitmedia audio controller is part of your sound "card". If you have the standard audio (on the motherboard and the Speaker connection is on the motherboard I/O panel) you have the Analog Devices audio. If you have an optional sound card - the speaker jack will be on a card in the I/O expansion area of the PC, if you moved the PC that sound card may need reseating. Just moving the PC would not affect the standard Integrated (on the motherboard) audio. However, if there was rough handling of the tower PCI sound cards could have been loosened.
If you have the optional sound card, reseat it as noted and see if that fixes it. Reseat - with the PC powered off, open the case and remove the sound card, then reinstall the card, making sure it's fully and correctly seated. If you are uncomfortable opening the case and working on it yourself you will need to take it to a PC shop (or call a tech that makes home calls).
Usually, if you get the multimedia audio controller issue, just reinstalling the sound drivers fixes it.
HERE is the Dell downloads for the 2400, if you have lost the Dell disc(s) with the drivers on them.
