after burning CD computer freezes
I am new to the community, so hope someone can help -- I have an Inspiron D530, CD PBDS DVD+RW DH 16W15, running Windows XP. I can successfully burn a CD using windows, but after completion and ejecting the CD, the computer freezes. I tried a third-party burning software and it never finalized the CD and computer was again frozen. Appreciate any help. thanks!!

Hi, vhoffman:
Your model number is 530 (D530 is a laptop). Perhaps you could start by telling me what program you are using to burn CDs.

I was burning data from Windows Explorer (I'm running XP). Everything goes fine, until I'm done burning and then the computer just freezes. I have no choice but to turn the computer off and reboot. Then when I started having trouble, I tried a program called DeepBurner. I thought it was going to work, but this time the software didn't finalize the CD -- computer was frozen. I'm not getting any error messages, and when I checked the Device Manager it says the CD-ROM is working properly.

Open My Computer and right click the CD drive. Look for a DLA and/or recording tab. Look at each of these tabs and tell me which one is enabled.

Under the recording tab: Enable CD recording on this drive is checked; Select a drive where Windows can store an image is Local Disk C; write speed is fastest.
