STUDIO XPS 1645 - DELAY - CANCEL - RELEASED MONEY = DELL

Hi all Dell's Customers ( for now but maybe not in the near future, unless..)

Here are popular PROBLEMS recently with STUDIO XPS 1645 i7 :

Ordered       09/27 - EDD 10/19 - Canceled by Dell (Wireless Card Compatible Reason) - WITHOUT NOTIFICATION

Reordered  10/22 - EDD 11/13 - Delay to 11/20 -  Canceled by Dell (Graphic Card out of stock + i7 back-order) - WITHOUT NOTIFICATION

Reordered  11/19 - EDD 12/15 - ...( waiting to see WHAT WILL HAPPEN HERE )

PROBLEM #1: all the CANCELLATIONS were MADE BY DELL. I was not even contacted and informed about it via phone or e-mail ( I provided them both). Dell is supposed to contact me for that. What would happen if I had not contacted Dell ? => wait forever !

PROBLEM #2 ( happened to all of the previous orders and is happening with the current order now ): couple days after placing orders, the money was released back to bank account and became " Available". Soon later, orders got CANCELED. I now can do anything with the money even withdrawing them. So Dell is building my order without even putting my money in hold as it supposed to be? ( Or they are going to cancel my order just like they did 2 times before ?)

PROBLEM #3: When you place an order ( that was canceled 2 times before ), you have offered a request to expedite an order, you have the Expedited Estimated Delivery Date which is as same as the Standard Date posted on the web at the same time, you know that IT MUST BE DELL. What's the point to expedite while it does not make any sooner than the standard date that is already posted on the web AT THE SAME TIME?

PROBLEM #4: DELL NEEDS AT LEAST 3 MONTHS in order to complete a single laptop order ( or maybe more since I still have not received it yet). Whatever the reasons are, DELL must control everything before promoting to sell and putting the estimated delivery dates.

PROBLEM #5: We are being LIED and told many different interesting stories about the Delays first, and then the Cancellations. I have been waiting more than 2 months and still have to wait until mid of Dec to receive my laptop. In that 2 months, headache with : Delay - Cancellacation - No Notification - Be Transfered through a lot of Department - "Customer Service" - Person at Sale Department - Money Released Issue...I have to say :

Unless Dell changes, IT IS TIME TO WALK AWAY !

Unless you ordered a fast-track model, expect to wait -- if you really need the system, why not just go buy one at retail?  Best Buy, Staples and others all sell pre-configured Dell systems -- and competing systems.  However, if it's an i7 system you ordered - from anyone -- expect to wait, as these chips are on worldwide allocation from Intel.

They will encumber your account to hold the funds equivalent to the price of the system.  The charge will go through only after the system is shipped.

Again, if you're in a hurry, DO NOT order an i7 system from anyone.  You will be waiting a while.

I am willing to wait if they had ever told me exactly how long I have to wait. That's the point. They don't give me the real reason.

Anyway, any idea about the money ?

If the funds have been released, it's likely the order was canceled.  There are rules about how long funds can be held and how long orders can be delayed before they're canceled.  Dell is simply a supplier - it doesn't make the notebooks it sells -- no one does any longer.

Intel has not yet ramped production of these chips to full capacity, and has had trouble making chipsets to go with them.  Dell's manufacturers can't supply what Intel can't produce.

Bottom line:  if you need a system soon, buy a fast-track model or buy at retail.  You now know that the custom orders, particularly of the i7 models are on delay.  Out of the hundreds of models of notebook carried by Newegg.com, only seven are core i7 - and those are all  the slower 720QM model.  That's a pretty good indication that the problems are universal - not limited to Dell.

Yes, I think so to. But the problem here is the money is available back in my account already (When I placed my order, the money was hold and is not

available in my " Available Balance"). And I now can do anything with that money, even withdraw them

or transfer to saving account. So, is it possible and reasonable that Dell is working on my order and will ship it to me without holding my funds.

Again, the point here is that the SAME PROBLEM always happened with all of my previous orders a while before they all got canceled by Dell ( for unacceptable

reasons).

For another thing, no matter it i7 or whatever, the main problem now is that THEY ARE NOT BEING HONEST WITH US about both the delivery date and stock status.

Why not just tell us what exactly is going on so we can consider it. They are just keeping lie on it with promises and promises...

I totally understand that and I am not blaming Dell on i7.

Again, the ONLY PROBLEM here is the way Dell is applying to deal with their valuable customers.

THEY ARE NOT BEING HONEST with customers about it. Just about their behavior.

Not only my case, they should tell the customers the correct or at least close Estimated Delivery Date.

It is absolutely NOT ACCEPTABLE to DELAY an order for even MORE THAN 2 MONTHS.

They are really supposed to aware of the stock status. If they DO NOT HAVE IT, then DO NOT PROMOTE it on the website.

Did I miss or still incorrect at any points ?

I understand the frustration here as I am in the same boat. If DELL has any kind of integrity, they will instruct their sales people to stop telling their potential customers that their orders will arrive on or before their EDD when they very well know the EDD will be delayed. This is not ethical and belive me DELL will be subject to karma.

If it's not acceptable to you, then why bother dealing with it?  Cancel the order, buy something that suits your needs, and be done with it.

Okay Dell, What if I say this:

I will send you the money 3 weeks after I receive the laptop.

Bank error, I assure you that you will have the money within next 2 weeks ( no extra, sorry)

Hum...I don't have money this time. I promise to transfer it to you next 2 weeks ok.

I know you have been waiting for 7 weeks for total, but you will have to wait more. I will expedite (but to me, expedite means : the same)

I know you are angry but it's Dell..oh oh sorry, I mean..it's me, not you, ok.

Sorry, I don't know if I can give the money to you or not. Just let me cancel this payment and re-enter a new date.

(I just want to make it seems like it has been delayed just 1 week.)

Enjoy waiting...! (without even sure that you will have the money or not)

Checked the link " Dell Purchase ID"  - Saw the Estimated Ship Date is : 1/1/0001 ( Please...)

E-mailed and asked - Got answer : It is incorrect ( Of course, it 's better incorrect )

On Fri, Nov 27, 2009 at 11:54 PM, I have received an e-mail saying that: "your order is built and in transit to the shipping facility.

Normal time in this routing position is 48-96 hours.".

Waiting to see what will happen..
