PowerEdge 1850 Supported Processor list
I need to know all the processors that the Poweredge 1850 supports.
I am particularly interested to know if it supports the Paxville MP Dual cores @800mhz that has Intel VT.
It has the socket 604, and from my understanding the 1850 supports the Paxville DP series. (no intel VT)
Please advise, thanks.

I found these looking in the BIOS update release notes for the 1850:
Microcode (Patch ID=07).
I'm guessing that it will take a dual core Paxville, but I'm not sure if it's a DP (no VT) or a MP (with VT). I'd like to try it out sometime. It's hard to say whether VT will work even if it runs with the CPU.

Thanks for posting. But I already found out the answer.
Just to clarify for future readers, the 1850 supports the Paxville DP (SL8MA) cpu NOT any of the Paxville MP (w/ Intel VT).
Additionally, there are two main planar board (motherboard) versions, the earlier version and a later version (PE1850, V5) which is capable of higher wattage CPUs like the Paxville DP.

I know this is an old thread but the statement above isn't strictly true;
For the older PowerEdge 1850 Servers you were generally stuck with 'Paxville DP' as mentioned in the first post but with a lot of investigation I found (and fitted) the processors below to give a full VT compatible server.
http://ark.intel.com/products/27225/Intel-Xeon-Processor-7030-2M-Cache-2_80-GHz-800-MHz-FSB
These processors are 100% compatable with the 1850 but very hard to find these days.
I purchased mine from eBay under '(SL8UB) Xeon 7030 2.8Ghz Processor'
Maybe the 1850's wont be sectioned to the scrapheap just yet!!!!.
Hope you find this useful.

Hi guys
my poweredge 1850 was shipped from the US in late 2006 begining 07
i guess its the second generation power edge 1850
can i use anything higher then the dual core 2.8ghz xeon SL8MA ? Has anyone tested anything above it?
is there any QuadCore cpu model compatible or just dual core?
i will order them to upgrade this week as the device came with only 1 single Xeon 3.2ghz and 2GB ram.
which i have orderer already 4 slots of 4gb PC2 3200R ECC registered for upgrades also

Nope, no QC. In fact, DC is only supported in the very latest (II) revision of the x850.
