Monitor Black Border ATI HD4670 and ST2410 HDMI cable

There is a black border on my monitor that I just set up today 1/21/2010 from Dell that is approximately 1" all around.

The desktop is set to 1920x1080 at 60Hz

I cannot find a setting in ATI Catalyst Control Center to adjust this to full monitor width and height.  I found this post http://en.community.dell.com/forums/p/19309246/19620047.aspx#19620047  with this advice...

"Open the Ati Catalyst Control Center- Digital Panel Properties- Attributes- Image Scaling and enable "Scale image to full panel size"."

and have not found this device setting anywhere.

Does anyone know the solution? Do I need to download a newer version of CCC?  Thanks

This is the set up using a HDMI cable

Thank you so much for this tip! I spent hours looking for that screen/menu and had no clue to look for the little black triangle above the little pic of the monitor on the bottom! Now I have my computer fixed up perfect!   Studio XPS 9000 ST2410.

I have exactly the same problem (Dell SX2210 with HDMI and ATI Radeon 5770).

Thanks for the post - your changes work well. Unfortunately, every time I reboot the settings don't automatically kick in and I have to load ATI CC again.

Any suggestions would be great... otherwise I will be dusting off my DVI cable again.

Thanks,

Dave

Hi,

Not sure what to do there, but here are some ideas that come to mind.  I have no idea how effective they will be, but perhaps they are a good starting point or will insipire some ideas from yourself or others.

1. Check if Windows Device Manager has detected/configured your Monitor or if it thinks you have a generic monitor.

2. My ATI CCC always loads at boot up and is visible on the tray as an icon.  I imagine yours should as well.  If it is not a startup program then maybe make it one.

3. I hate advising BIOS checks but perhaps your BIOS has a setting regarding the monitor that is causing any configurations you make in Windows to be reset at boot up.

4. Removing and installing ATI CCC is quite a chore from what I've read and there is a great post in Dell about the proceedure.  I imagine if you are at wits end you might upgrade your CCC to the latest version or roll back to an earlier version.  I imagine your video card came with an installation CD and that version may not be the best for your PC configuration.  Again I want to emphasize that this is a last step in my book considering how annoying the removal and re-istallation proceedure is.

Hope you get it perfect! :emotion-1:

Thanks for your post!

Have spent several hours fiddling without any joy so have decided to revert to DVI... to be honest I can't really notice any difference!

Thanks again,

Dave

Thank you veeeeery much.

I was ready to call Dell support after I connected two different laptops and had the same issue. Unfortunately both were using ATI graphics which needed these additional settings.

For sure you saved me lots of time I would spend on the phone with Dell/Acer.

You have the wrong driver.  Uninstall 10.8 and then use Driver Sweeper (a freeware you should download first ) in safe mode. Then select ati to remove all ati leftover files.  reboot and go back to amd.com and download 10.7 package listed under previous versions.  Mine reboots fine now.  AMD gave me this info and has admitted to the problem.  Dell can't answer this.  AMD is the way to go.  They got back to me quickly.  I'm assuming the 5770 and 5870 which I have will require the same driver.  :emotion-2:

I have the latest CCC.  I have not found what you are looking for.  Why may I ask are you looking for it?

I've got an acer S273HL and was cracking my head open trying to figure out how to remove the black borders.  YOU ARE THE MAN!!!  Just like "Dim Sum43" above me...I created a Dell account just to say "Thanks!!".  :) :) :)

Almost 2 years later and this post still applies. Reinstalled the OS after a HD crash and couldn't remember for the life of me how i configured this back in May/June 2010. Why can't they make it easier to find? Another mystery of life.

Thanks

Thank you, TRINAPPA!  I had to fiddle with the Enable GPU Scaling option a few times before scaling options were no longer grayed out (and also selected a few non-native resolutions as well as native resolutions from the My Digital Flat-Panels > HDTV Support panel so I'm not sure if those had helped enable that option, too).  I used Catalyst version 11.12 (Asus branded), with an EAH-5450 fan-less card.
