Inspiron 1545 CD/DVD Drive not working AGAIN!
So last spring I noticed my CD/DVD drive wasn't working, so I went and got it fixed and it worked. Now it has stopped working again and refuses to read any discs. I checked my control panel and it says "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)" I've checked for updates and it said it was already equipped with the most updated version. I've restarted my computer, disabled it then reenabled it and it still won't work!

Look down the page and find your operating system and follow the instructions for removing the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters manually.

So I didn't have LowerFilters so the information didn't work.

Remove the Upperfilter (sometimes the Lowerfilter is missing) then reboot the system.

thanks skybird. i too had troubles with my inspiron,
suddenly the dvd did not show up in MY COMPUTER
and there was a little yellow exclamation mark in the DEVICE MANAGER.
I ran regedit and removed both upper and lower filters, now
everything is good again!!! Appreciated very much.
