You poor guy, I had a similar problem on NT4 before xmas.  It turned out a tape was stuck in the drive (some idiot had used wrong size tape).  It took me ages to try and free it (not recommended).  If you have a tape cartridge 8 tapes etc, empty it and reboot it.  Cross your fingers that it pops out during reboot.

The LCD "Eject Prevent" message was also encountered here.  I noticed in Hardware Devices that the W2K Server driver was not identified, so search to update it with a better one.  The system found the Sony driver and installed it.  I pressed Eject and it worked.  Now, that does nothing for Veritas BackupExec 9.0.  The device unlock doesn't allow eject to be selected, so it must be done manually, which is just as well.  It's a poor feature to have the device eject by pushing the button once.  This is where the deck should do a Bill Gates and ask if that's what you really want to do, especially if you're not sure it's in Eject Prevent mode or not, because it's a lousy way to check if it is - the device goes through it's (seeming) hour of eject motions.
