XPS M1530 Display Issue
Hey all.
I own a XPS M1530 and recently have run into troubles with my display. I was using it normally one day when the screen went black, and then faded to white. I was scared, because of all the issues with the video cards on these things, but I hooked it up to an external monitor and everything works fine. The issue seems to be random too, because it sometimes will boot up correctly with no display problems, and I can use the laptop normally, until it "dies" again. Other times the display just doesn't work on boot up, though I know the computer is booting up because I can hear it and I have it plugged into a external monitor and switch it to that using fn+f8. I was wondering if anyone has had an issue like this, and what the problem may be. Any help would be great, Thanks!

If the external monitor works, but the internal does not, it could be a backlight problem (or an inverter problem, if you have a CCFL backlight).
It could also be a symptom of a dying video chip - for which these nVidia engineering marvels are known. Yes, it does happen sometimes that the external display will be OK when the internal one is not.

Thanks for the reply. Is there any way to tell whether it be some sort of problem with the display rather then the video chip? I really would hate to have to replace the motherboard, seeing as it is very costly.
