Vostros 220s case fan needs replacing

I have a Vostros 220s and the case fan is creating loud noises.  I unplugged it and the noise quits.  I am trying to find a replacement fan without much success.  Does anyone know where I can get a 80mm x 80mm x 15 mm fan?  The fan is connected to the top of the case (in tower setting) and is latched in with a blue plastic tray.  There are no holes in the case, and a 25mm fan will not fit into the tray.  It is VERY specific, but I can't find on on Dell's parts site either.

Hello, I have the same problem.  Looking for that same "slim" fan.  The site given looked very promising but their fans are too "thick" and will not fit into the blue plastic holding mount.  Any other sources or will Dell parts have a replacement?  Thank you for any help.  Dan

I have bee unable to find a fan.  Dell does not list it as an option.  My next plan is to simply superglue one to the case.  Right now I am running it with the case open but that is not a long term solution.

Cellularfactory lists a Vostros 220S case fan specifically on their site.  They list the width and height of it, but not the depth.  As it turns out, it is a 25mm depth and the Vostros 220S uses a 15 mm.  Does not seem to be anywhere to purchase another, not even the Dell site.

I called Dell.  They gave me replacement part number as JY705 and HX022.  Cost was about 22 dollars but they are out of stock.  I googled  red planet dell  and or/ JY705 and found red planet site that sells used dell parts.  They have the fan for 9.99.  I bought 2 of them and will give them a try.  Hope this helps Glenn and others out.

I know this is an old question, but Newegg sells case fans that are 80x80x15mm.

The Dell has a proprietary fan(funny bracket).

However, I wonder has anyone tried just attaching a standard case fan directly to the case(by making holes in the case for the screws)?

I haven't had any problems using standard fans with my Dells.

Obviously you don't have vostro 220s.

The noise, in my opinion, cannot be reduced. It's a design problem.
