inspiron duo and duoStage

there is a way to have duostage run when in tablet mode. duostage is slow. I found another ui and would like to run that instead of duostage when in tablet mode. is this possible?

Im sure its way more work than necessary. You know when you go to stage duo and click music it says musicstage, library, and napster, you can login to a napster account and so forth. I wish I could change that to rhapsody but sure it is alot of coding and such.

Thanks though!

I had the same problem with zero help from the Dell techs (I don't think they ever understood what I was asking for).  Turned out I needed to replace the application list in C:\ProgramData\Dell\duo Stage\ apps_list.xml.  What I ended up doing was copying the xml code that nealkubitz posted earlier in the thread, pasted it in notepad, and saved it as C:\ProgramData\Dell\duo Stage\ apps_list.xml.  As soon as I did that my icons were back.  And, as a bonus, I now know how to add/change apps on stage.

I just got my duo yesterday and to my surprise, there was NO dell apps installed. I tried installing the Duo Stage from online and just got a blank screen that pops up when I flip the screen. I tried the xml copy/paste. Did not change anything.

I also can not figure out for the life of me how to get the screen orientation to rotate, is it not supposed to automatically when you rotate the tablet?

I did that last night and it made no difference.

Turns out the drivers were installed, but according to another post I found, the registry keys were not in there which the poster provided a link to from the support download site.

This fixed that issue. Now just to get the icons to show in the gui when the screen shows the stage ui.

you are missing a file that was installed on first boot up .. you can try restore by pressing F8 and picking factory reset and this will install your file in system32 folder .. you will lose all that you have on this lp

Alternative is get a copy of working LP ...system 32 directory and copy  over that is what i did and i was able to get all my Apps on screen when i fold it down with this xml file... this file alone does not fix issue with Blank screen  ... I have spent over 40 hrs and 30 days with dell tech and they diod not help ... to be kind to them they did not have this info provided to them by dell

If you have just bought this you have 20 dayys to retrun .. you can take this option and get new one from dell ... System image does not fix this as the image was not created byUSA tech support .... THIS IS CHINA .... this is where you system came from

Ugh, I was hoping that wasn't the case. :/

I got this duo just the way it was. I've only updated Win7 with the patches and got the orientation to work. I don't think the restore will work considering none of the Dell software was installed when I got it. I had to download it all.

You got the DUO in a non working state?

Wow - please tell me that you bought this used or something and not new?

I sold mine just a day or 2 ago to a friend and at the very least made sure it was all back to factory working condition when I handed it over!  LOL

Dell can be hitting 100% on some products they support but in this particular case they are batting well below that.

Hi. I had to re-install my duo and all the software for it. When I re-installed DuoStage, the window is blank. All the appsthat was supposed to be there were gone. I tried to find the app_*.xml file you mentioned here but I cannot find it at all. Please help.

thanks

Thank you. I copied the one posted by TheJaxx and created an xml file like you suggested...but it didn't work. DuoStage is still showing "blank"

Thank you very much for responding so fast.

Hi. I was searching for your previous post so I can see your xml file information...but I cannot see any older posting you've done.

SO TRUE, they have been failing all over the place, before i posted here there was like NOTHING on google about configuring the stage or anything else on the Duo, we gave ours to a board member after i made all the configurations, seems to be working "OK" for him...  we will see how it goes
