Streak5 - Wifi & BT weak, low audio

Got my Streak a month back with 2.1. On startup it prompted for upgrade to 2.2. I didnt test the device before the upgrade. I see that Wifi reception is very weak. I have to be in the same room as the router for it to work. If I move to another room, I lose the signal, however my other phone & laptop seem to hold on to the signal much further away. Next is the bluetooth headset, anything further than 6 inches and the sound is garbled. The internal audio is quite low. I need to always use a headset. Any solutions to these before I call support?

I exactly have the same issue as the above user. Sometimes the wifi connection keeps displaying the message saying that "obtaining IP address" and tats about it.... it never connects.

I have had the Streak 5 since August last year.  When it was on 1.6 the WiFi was Ok and the 3G seemed to work Ok.  Since updating to Froyo (2.2) the device works much more quickly and smoothly than before, however, there are now a couple of bugs in the drivers for the WiFi and 3G.

Quite often (at least once a day) the WiFi will 'crash' whereby a network that it usually connects to is seen, but the device is unable to connect to it.  The WiFi icon indicates a full connection and the 3G communications is disabled in preference of the WiFi - which does not work and so the phone is essentially unplugged from the net.  To remedy the problem, simply toggle the WiFi tick box in wireless settings and it connects and works fine.  It seems when it goes out of range of an existing WiFi connection is sometimes fails to disconnect properly and the WiFi is left in a limbo state. As with all the 'best' errors, this is intermittent!

I have also had a problem with the 3g side, whereby it refuses to connect - even after a power off and on.  To fix this, I deleted all my APN's and then restored them (from the excellent APN Backup utility) - then it works fine.  This has only happened a few times in the last six months - and I am not convinced that it is not a 3rd part app causing the problem (my bet is Skype for Android which is very unstable).

Both these problems are easily remedied, but they show a poor QC level at Dell and mean a bit of fiddling about that should not be necessary.

Oh, for the record, I absolutely adore my Streak - it is totally the best device I own - period!  :)

On the Audi side, the Steak is quite low through headphones.  I have some bluetooth headphones and they rock!  I have also noticed that when you have the headphones plugged in and listing to music/podcase/audiobook and a call comes in that is answered via bluetooth (I hope  your keeping up here), when the call ends, the headphone volume is radically reduced.  To remedy this, unplug the headphone jack, then plug it back in and it goes back to its 'normal' volume.

Just another little item that got past the Dell QC!

Incidentally, I get the best music experience I have ever had on any device (including my old Ipod Classic) by using PowerAMP and Bluetooth Headphones.  PowerAMP has an Awesome equaliser and preamp system that works really well and makes the replay outstandingly good.  It even improves the experience on normal ear bud headphones, but then we get back to the Streak lack of volume issue somewhat.

Called up Dell support, they asked me to go to the Service Center. The Service Center confirmed that the device needs to be replaced and they were awaiting the stock. Asked me to check back in a week. That became two weeks. Now they tell me that it will take another week. Wow I could have ordered a new device from across the globe and received it by now. Will keep you all posted on when I receive the replacement. The Service Center personnel were very helpful and co-operative but cut a sorry figure as to getting the replacement.
